About Us

Dr. Emily Coles is the owner and operator of Big Rapids Family Eyecare. Dr. Coles is a graduate of Big Rapids High School (2000), Michigan Technological University (2004), and the Michigan College of Optometry at Ferris State (2008). Having grown up in Big Rapids, Dr. Coles is community-driven, serving in leadership roles within various Parent Teacher Organizations, Sports Boosters, Ferris States University Alumni Board, Michigan College of Optometry Alumni board, Isabella Bank Community Board, Lerner Financial Community Board, and Brownfield Redevelopment Authority.

Dr. Coles is an active member of the American Optometric Association, Michigan Optometric Association, West Michigan Optometric Association, Downtown Business Association of Big Rapids, Mecosta County Area Chamber of Commerce, and is DPA and TPA certified.

​Dr. Coles is excited to accept new patients of all ages, specializing in contact lens fittings, young children’s exams, and the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.

​Dr. Coles is married and the mother of 3 boys: Carson, Reid, and Ari. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, having fun with fitness,  and cheering on local sports teams.
